On the 1st weekend of every month!
Create your very own Medicine Drum
The drum of Healing and Prayer, Grace and Power.
The Deer skin Medicine Drum stands alone in it's beauty and grace. Used by seekers, healers and shamans of all the ancient tribes.
During the Workshop you will learn:
— How to make a frame drum.
— Principles of working with rawhide.
— How to make a soft beater.
— Care and maintenance of your drum.
— How to repair your drum.
— How to use your drum for healing.
— Playing techniques and simple rhythms.
— The history of the frame drum.
You will also:
Experience the joy and power of drumming in a circle. Feel the magic of relaxation/meditation with the drum.
Learn chants
The frame drums that we will be creating are hand held drums
They are made with a wooden frame covered with animal skin, held together
with lacing made from the same skin. We will be using deer skin for the drumhead.
Jennifer will have pre-constructed the frame of your drum from small pieces of Pine or Maple timber joined together (with mitered corners) to form a circular shape, 15''- 18'' in diameter.
You will be able to choose your frame from a selection available
